Although most of us are big fans of firewood heat, wood pellets are another popular option for heating. Pellet heating is less messy, bulky, and labor-intensive–all you have to do is feed pellets in the hopper every so often. Pellets require less storage room, put fewer splinters in your hands, make less ash in the grate, and reduce cleanup time.
Western Building Center carries two brands of pellets: Purcell Premium wood pellets and North Idaho Energy Logs Super Premium wood pellets.
Both brands of wood pellets are 100% natural, and made entirely of sawdust and shavings from sawmills–nothing else. They’re dampened, compressed and dried, resulting, to quote Purcell, in a “high density, low moisture…pellet that packs much higher BTU output per pound, and creates less than 1/2 the ash allowed by premium pellet standards.” Pretty impressive.
We carry both Purcell and North Idaho pellets by the 40lb. bag and the ton. A ton is 50 40lb. bags on a pallet with a single stretch hooded cover with UV protection. Contact your local store for current pricing.
By the way, however you get them, keep them dry–wet pellets, as you might guess, are tough to start on fire.
